In 2020 we are looking for 1-2 hard-working individuals interested in joining our farm team.
reroot organic farm is a 70 acre diversified farm with a strong focus on market gardening, providing certified organic vegetables, fruits, herbs and cut flowers for 100 CSA shareholders, 2 weekly farmers’ markets and on-farm sales. 2020 will be reroot’s 14th growing season, our 10th season on our own land located in Wellington County, 1-hour North of Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo.
The farm is run primarily by Caitlin with help from her husband Tony and our 2 year old daughter, Ivy.
The successful applicant will have at least one full season working on a market garden, or similar experience, a valid G license, and a good work ethic. Duties include tractor work, hand/hoe weeding, transplanting, harvesting, post-harvest washing and market/CSA pick-up prep and attendance. Hours will be a little variable but for the most part will be 7:30am- 4:30pm M-F. Occasional attendence at evening and weekend farmers' markets might also be required.
While the focus of the position will be on market gardening, interns will also have hands-on experience beekeeping, working with our flock of free-range laying hens, and raising pastured chickens, pigs, sheep and cattle for meat.
We’re looking for inquisitive, versatile, hard-working and self-motivated individuals who are interested in a diversified farm experience. We are friendly, flexible, LGBTQ+ and open to discussing different remuneration options. These may include an hourly salary or partial exchange for an incubator style set-up where we provide you with the space, equipment and time to trial a small farm business on our farm while working part-time for us (get in touch if you have an idea, and we'd be happy to explore if it might be a fit for our farm). We would also be open to hiring a couple who would like to share the full-time farm job while also pursuing other interests.
The position runs May 1- November 1, 2020
On-farm housing in a private suite is available to the right person/couple and can be discussed with respect to remuneration.
To apply, please send an e-mail detailing your interest in working on our farm along with a resume to info@reroot.ca. We accept applications year-round but aim to fill our positions in January-February.
volunteer opportunities
Volunteers are welcome at the farm from May-November at pre-arranged dates & times. We typically work Monday-Friday during daylight hours. If you'd like to come out and get your hands dirty in the garden or around the barn, get in touch with us and we'll find a time that works for all!
